Beginning Friday, June 1st, Fare Restaurant and Bar will roll out their First Friday Art events; a series of First Friday after-parties (held from 10pm– 2am) featuring emerging artists, up-and-coming musicians, organic fare and hand-crafted spirits. The June event, being held in conjunction with Luxe Marketing and Promotions and Mainline Magazine, will highlight two brilliant Philadelphia natives: self-taught and award-winning photographer Sherry Ruczynski and celebrated animator and sketch artist Whitney Alexander.
First Friday events are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Please reserve your spot by emailing email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org for your RSVP.
Fare Restaurant and Bar, located at 2028 Fairmount Avenue in Philadelphia, stands by the mantras, “Organic. Local. Sustainable. Artisan. Crafted.” The restaurant is at the forefront of a movement to showcase organic food, sustainable goods and local, emerging talent – from farmers and craft brewers to painters and musicians. The food is clean, the vibe is fresh and the concept unique to any other restaurant in the Fairmount neighborhood and, dare we say, the entire city of Philadelphia. More about the featured artists…
Sherry Ruczynski is a 6 time FWA-One-Photo-a-Day winner and has had her work showcased in 17 gallery showings throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Her ability to capture random moments in time and in contrast the serendipitous but edgy photographs inspire a certain tangible human feeling that consumes a person with thought. Sherry’s mantra is- FERVOR – the state of being emotionally aroused and worked up; passion, passionateness; a strong feeling or emotion and is well on her way in succeeding in her goal that ”Soon, all of Philly will be exposed”
Whitney Alexander knew from a very young age that he wanted to be an artist. His decision to focus on Animation came in his early high school years where he built upon his artistic base of drawing. Significant influences to Whitney’s work include Michelle Gondry, Wes Anderson and Adam Phillips. He is a graduate of the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design. It was at SCAD where Whitney developed and grew his style through inspiration of graffiti art, which can be seen in his work. As well, he is an accomplished sketch artist. Some of these works will be featured this coming First Friday.
Currently he is working freelance opportunities with Klip Collective where his Animation was featured at the entrance of the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show. Also, he was nominated for Fest Anca’s 2012 International Animation Festival and invited to share his story and vision for the technological direction in Animation at The Apple Store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
Both Sherry and Whitney draw from their unique life experiences, which can be seen in their art. We are very excited to bring this event to you!
